Silver Bay Bible Camp is a non-denominational Christian boys and girls camp that is located near Steep Rock on the shores of Lake Manitoba. The camp was founded in 1939 by Jalmar (Sr.) and Ruth Erickson .The camp was a part of their missionary ministry to the people of Manitoba's Interlake region. Since the passing of the original founders, the camp has been directed by a board of directors including Jalmar's grandson Warren Erickson.

The camp operates for 3-4 weeks during the summer each year and accommodates 45 - 50 campers each week. The ages of the campers are between the ages of 6 and 15. Along with these campers are a weekly volunteer staff of 20 to 25 councilors, cooks, and other helpers. The campers and staff all come from various parts of Manitoba’s Interlake area as well as some from other areas of the province and Canada. Over the years hundreds of people have attended or helped keeping the camp functional and effective. The fee for a week of camp has not changed over the years and is still only $1.00. This enables anyone to attend, even those who can't afford it. One of the principles of Silver Bay is not to turn anyone away because of their financial status. Children from all races and religious beliefs are welcome.

"The fee for a week of camp has not changed over the years and is still only $1.00"

Many of the children who attend this camp come from backgrounds where their family life is a challenge. At Silver Bay they are accepted for who they are and they experience love and acceptance by all staff. Every year we have several children sent to us by organizations such as Child and Family Services. At camp, they are able to have a fun camping experience along with emotional and spiritual support.
